SchedulePress was created with the goal of making scheduled posts become published on time for low traffic WordPress websites.
The scheduled post system relies on
wp-cron which only runs when a visitor comes to the website. If a website owner has a scheduled post to be published at 8:00 AM, but their first visitor isn’t until 9:00 AM, the post won’t be published until that time. SchedulePress aims to get the post published closer to it’s correct time.
SchedulePress uses background scripts which runs on intervals to perform an
HTTP GET to the website’s
wp-cron.php. Website owners can log into SchedulePress using oAuth to manage their account details and the subscription which gives options for customized intervals.
